Name: Courtlyn Tuckett

Age: 12 yrs old How did you get into dancing, and how old were you? My mum first took me along to dance class to see if I would like it. My first stage performance was a few months later at an eisteddfod, I was in a fairy group. When my Mum came and collected me after my performance I was so excited, she asked me 'how was that? Are we going to ride motorbikes at the farm or are we going to be dancing? My reply was ' I want to dance! but next time I want to be on my own, cause everyone got in my way! I was 5 years old then and that was the start of my dance journey. What do you like about Energetiks Dancewear? I like Energetiks Dancewear because its comfortable and fits me nicely. I like the new colours and style options and enjoy mixing and matching pieces for dance or day wear. When I need something in a hurry, I am able to get it overnight if my local shop hasn't got it in stock. Mum likes the price. Do you have a favourite style of dance? That is a really hard question because I study Ballet, Tap, Jazz, National and Contemporary. I have to say, I most enjoy the performance factor through my Tap and Jazz, but as I'm maturing, I am also enjoying my classical work... I'm loving the challenge of Grade 6 and Intermediate Foundation. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 5 years I see myself completing my senior years of high school while balancing my dance training. I will be a senior dancer at my dance school and would like to be a good mentor to the younger girls. I want to continue to make time to help my Principal with the younger students, assisting her throughout the year and working hard in class, workshops and performances in preparation for the 'big wide world of dance' and its opportunities. My big dream is to perform in a Broadway production. What is your all-time favourite dance movie? Without even a thought..Burlesque! What is your best dance memory/moment? My all time 'wow' factor memory has to be performing at Disneyland and Universal Studios in the USA last year, it was the most amazing time, something I am so very grateful for the opportunity to do and I will never forget. My best dance moment though is when I'm dancing on stage and I catch my principal smiling in the wings. What is your favourite saying or advice that inspires me? My Mum gave me this little piece for when things get tough, it is glued in my solo book so i can read it if i feel i need to: I believe the single most significant decision I can Make on a day-to-day basis is my choice of attitude. It is more important than my success or my failures, my fame or my pain. It is more important than what people think of me or say about me, my circumstances or my position. Attitude keeps me going or cripples my progress. Attitude alone - fuels my fire or assualts my hope. When my attitude is right - there is no barrier too high, no valley too low. - no dream too extreme - no challenge too great for me. She finishes to say Sometimes you aren't going to get it right, you will stumble but remembering your attitude and continuing to work hard... can make all the difference. always Mum x
