These are a few of our favourite things! - April edition.
Now that April has just come to an end we thought we'd share some of our favourite things that have kept everyone here at Energetiks smiling this past month. April favourites
First of all let's kick things off with this -
:) That's Michaela DePrince, from the First Position film! Which we LOVED, if you haven't seen it already we highly recommend you go and watch it, so much talent on one screen! Amazing!
2. April Fools. Yes, it's that one day when everyone from Google to George Clooney abandons seriousness, and the typical reserved and conservative airs of those in the public eye and embraces the playful spirit of the day with a surprise or two... and somehow, much to everyone else's glee, there's still always plenty of people getting fooled!
Take for example one of our favourite April Fool's pranks this year, where Twitter announced a big change to it's social network...
Twitter launches Twttr, wants $5 per month for vowel use
Twitter has revealed that from today its 140 character social network is becoming a two tier service. The basic service is free and called Twttr, but you can’t use vowels. If you want your vowels back in tweets, then you need to upgrade to the full Twitter service, which costs $5 a month.
And then there's Virgin's creative prank that we almost wish was real... almost...
Virgin’s glass-bottomed plane
Long haul flights can get pretty boring, especially if your plane doesn’t have WiFi or you’ve seen all the movies being offered. So Virgin has come up with another “feature” to keep you occupied (or so scared you can’t move out of your seat for the entire flight).
Richard Branson has proudly announced that Virgin Atlantic is introducing the world’s first glass-bottomed plane. Now, looking down from your seat will reveal a thin pane of glass between you and the runway, landscape, or clouds below.
...And lastly, we just had to include this cheeky 2008 April Fool's prank by the BBC, claiming penguins could fly. The footage was remarkably realistic... let's hope the penguins didn't fall for it too! ;)
Ballet - infinitely cool by itself we say... but hey, combining it with skateboarding can't hurt either, and how awesome are these ballet-boards!
Ballerina skateboards plus this awesome video is all we need to convince us that ballet and skateboarding actually make a pretty amazing combination... and maybe they're not all that different either...
4. Love for Boston.
In the wake of a truly heart-breaking tragedy, when spirits were low, and our shock and outrage at the cruelty of human nature was greater than ever, nothing could be more comforting or moving than witnessing the way people rallied to support the victims and their families. Nations all around the world expressed their grief and anger at the violent acts, and offered messages of warmth and support. Thousands of tweets, facebook messages and pictures were posted in the weeks following the bombings offering prayers and love to Boston. Faith in humanity = restored.
The Australian Ballet's gorgeous coffee-table book is 360 pages of enchanting, heavenly photography celebrating the beauty and elegance of dance as demonstrated by the Australian Ballet in the companies 50 year history. From rehearsals to performance, Luminous captures the dancers both in moments of work and play. Definitely worth a look for anyone with an interest in ballet! Stunning!
For those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, it's now well and truly time to embrace one of the cooler seasons' many positives; only the warmest, comfiest, and (arguably) most flattering shoes ever invented, boots! Whether they're old, new, brown, black, heeled, flat, short or high, ugg boots, gumboots, riding boots, ankle boots, combat boots or Dr Martens, there's a style to suite everyone and keep our often bruised and battered (thanks to dance) feet snug, dry and fashionable! Hooray.
7. Bubble baths... ahhhh. :)
(And spas for that matter too.) Sure, you can have a bath in summer, you can even get the candles and bath gel going too... but you have to admit, it's just not the same as running yourself the mother-of-all scented, steaming, candle-lit bubblebaths on a cold and dreary Winters (or Autumn, as the case may be) night. Time to settle back, enjoy the warmth and let all your muscles turn to jelly and you fingers get nice and wrinkly. Maybe even put some relaxing music on, or open up book if you're up for it. Is there anything quite as heavenly? We think not.
8. Easter. ...Obviously!
Apart from the fact that you get to eat lots of Easter eggs (mmm!), Easter also makes it onto our April favourites list because whether you're religious or not it's a wonderful time of year when the holidays allow us to spend time with friends and family and forget about work or school for a while.
9. Our new Behind the scenes - Photoshoots!
We've created a special area just for you guys to see what goes on over here at Energetiks headquarters and out on location when we're shooting our photoshoots! It's a Pinterest board filled with sneak-peeks of up and coming ranges, behind-the-scenes action and little tit-bits about our models and other fun stuff you'd never normally find out about, so keep an eye out because we'll be updating it regularly! :)
And a few other random things we love...
And these awesome crazy Gifs...
That's all for now, hope you had a lovely April everyone and bring on May! :)
