Introducing...

Name: Alana Smith

Age: 6 years old

How did you get into dancing, and how old were you?

I had been asking to start ballet lessons since I was about 2.5 as I loved to dance around at home, mum let me try out a class when I was 3.5 and I loved it – and haven’t looked back since then!

What do you like about Energetiks Dancewear?

I love all of the beautiful colours that the leotards and skirts come in.  I wear the Jacaranda leotard, crossover and skirt at the moment, but am really looking forward to wearing Mulberry next year when I start Grade 1 RAD.

Do you have a favourite style of dance (if so what)?

I take Primary level tap, jazz and ballet.  Ballet is definitely my favourite, I love to practice my pirouettes and arabesques!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Still dancing that’s for sure! I would love to be part of the performance group at my dance school and to perform solo routines at competitions.

What is your all-time favourite dance movie?

The Nutcracker, I love the movie version which features the New York City Ballet dancers.  I also love to watch the dvds from my end of year dance concerts, particularly the routines performed by the older dancers.

What is your best dance memory/moment?

My best dance memory/moment so far has definitely got to be when I received a trophy at my end of year concert last year!

What’s your favourite saying or advice that inspires you?

‘Practice makes your good better, and your better best’, from the Bella Dancerella dvd.
