Cinderella

for The Australian Ballet

Cinders is getting a brand-new dress! Alexei Ratmansky, formerly artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet and now resident choreographer of American Ballet Theatre, is creating a new version of Cinderella on The Australian Ballet.

Set to Prokofiev’s beguiling score and featuring Surrealism-inspired sets and costumes, this new Cinderella will be eagerly awaited both here and abroad. Ratmansky has been hailed as the saviour of traditional ballet, injecting fresh life into classical technique. His take on the original girl-made-good story promises true enchantment.

Raw Dance Company presents

BANG! CRASH! TAP!

11 - 14 September 2013, Melbourne

Bang! Crash! Tap! is a mash-up of tap dance with other genres including hip-hop and acrobatics, underscored with an urban style throughout. The show includes live music from funk to techno to Latin accented by the sounds of one of the world’s best up-and-coming Beatbox musicians.

Exploring the art of rhythm, Raw Dance Company's Bang! Crash! Tap! presents a collaboration by Creative Producer and Raw Dance founder Andrew Fee, Beatboxer extraordinaire Jonny Grant (AKA Dr Rhythm), talented percussionist Brendan Ramnath and some Australia’s slickest, most innovative tap dancers.

Act One – The Nutcracker - The Nutcracker is famous for Tchaikovsky’s music. The genius of Tchaikovsky created one of the most recognisable and enduring music scores ever written.

Act Two – Bolero - Bolero is a striking and dramatic ballet. Ravel was inspired to create this masterpiece after visiting a large industrial factory. There he noticed the slow regular movement of the assembly lines and the crash of machine and materials. Bolero is regarded as one of the world's music masterpieces.

Act Three – Highlights from the world's great ballets - including Don Quixote, Giselle, Carmen, The Dying Swan and Le Corsaire. Also in Act Three, Gopak and Ne Me Quittes Pas, Can Can Surprise

Rodgers & Hammersteins Musical

SOUTH PACIFIC

10 - 17 September 2013 (Sydney)

After 7 Tony Awards and sell out seasons on Broadway and the West End, the Lincoln Center Theatre’s stunning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s SOUTH PACIFIC is returning to Sydney from September 2013

A ground-breaking new production, directed by Bartlett Sher, SOUTH PACIFIC swept the 2008 Tony Awards® and played to sold-out houses for two and a half years, making it one of the Lincoln Center Theatre’s most successful productions.

Starring Lisa McCune as Nellie, Teddy Tahu Rhodes as Emile, Gyton Grantley as Luther Billis (Sydney Season) and Christine Anu as Bloody Mary, SOUTH PACIFIC will play a return season at the Sydney Opera House from September 2013 before moving to Perth’s Crown Theatre from November 10, for a strictly limited season.

Sadler’s Wells London and Sylvie Guillem present

6000 MILES AWAY

26 & 27 October 2013, Melbourne

Following sell-out performances at London’s Sadler’s Wells, Venice’s Dance Biennale and New York’s Lincoln Centre, the Festival season of 6000 miles away will provide Melbourne audiences with a rare opportunity to experience Sylvie Guillem’s physical prowess and some of the most technically sophisticated work of her career.

Described as ‘a love letter to Sylvie’, the evening will feature a triple bill.  First up is Kylian’s work 27’52” performed by former Nederlands Dans theatre dancers Aurelie Cayla and Lukas Timulak to the music of Dirk Haubrich. The second performance features iconic dance-maker William Forsythe’s new duet Rearray for Guillem, with music by David Morrow.
