Elysia's Update

Training is back to full swing again and today my body is not happy!  "Oh hi" muscles!  Our new professional team routine for the Sydney Latin Festival 2013 is underway and it's manic!  Last night we trained from 6 - 11pm, urgh, wearing dance heels for that long should be illegal.  I somehow moved from one feet punishing style of dance (ballet) to another (salsa)!

I'm really excited to see so many friends and familiar faces on the new TV show 'Everybody Dance Now'.  Have you been watching?  Specifically shout outs to the lovely Alex & Laura - a fellow salsa couple from Melbourne, and the incredible Kadu & Larissa from Brisbane.  Kadu & Larissa are Zouk dancers (amongst other things - Larissa is classically trained too.)  Wishing them the very best on the show, how exciting!

There are several events coming up later in the year; I head to Auckland, New Zealand in October for a big dance festival teaching and performing and then later in the month to the Canberra Latin Dance Festival for the same thing.  Canberra is a brand new festival so I'm really excited to be a part of it.  It promises a huge line up of great national and international artists.  I am going to 'work' but it's more like a big catch up over a weekend with all your dancing friends from around the country!

By far the most at the front of my mind heading into the end of the year, is the Australian Salsa Solo Competition in November.  It's a really exciting event with talent from all over Australia and the world competing.  The Salsa Solo is as it sounds - performing a routine/s solo on stage, judged by a panel of the industry's best.  Last year I was 2nd in the female division so I hope to top that this year, it's my goal.  I finished the choreography of my Salsa routine this week, so now it's just time to clean it up, add styling and perfect!

I'll check in again soon with what's happening in my crazy little world of dance.
