Dancers from across Sydney are gearing up to attempt to break the world record for the largest ballet class ever! The event, which will be held this August must beat the previous record of 1,525 dancers, held by the Queensland Ballet since May 2011, and over 230 dance schools have been approached to participate.

To be broken: Queenslands 2011 official Guiness World Record title.

Organisers are hoping to raise $50 000 for KidsXpress (a charity helping children affected by trauma, through the positive use of music, art and drama) with tickets costing $25 per dancer. The day will even feature a guest celebrity teacher, Dancing With The Stars judge Josh Horner, and prizes will be awarded to the 'best dressed' dancers.

What a fantastic idea, we look forward to hearing how the day went and if the record is broken! Stay tuned for an update...
